QUICK READS !!!

I was going to the office (as usual) when I saw this book on display in a bookstore, on the way: "SCREW IT...LET'S DO IT By Richard Branson"...
What attracted me more was not that the book was written by Richard Branson but the fact that it fell under the "QUICK READS" series of Virgin Books...

Here's what QUICK READS means (as per the definition given on the cover of the book): "Quick Reads books are written to appeal not only to emergent readers but to anyone wanting a QUICK, POWERFUL & FAST-PACED read"

- Certainly an appealing idea in this age of "Information Overload" (thanks mainly to the Internet - pun intended!)...The book's slim size acted as a credible testimony to the aforesaid definition...And definitely, "Brevity is the soul of wit" is 1 maxim which holds more meaning in this age of Internet when there's so much of information to virtually deluge you !!! :-)

Not surprisingly, I bought the book and went my way, smiling, to the office as I was quite confident (and hence kinda satisfied) that this was 1 book that I could certainly finish in just few reading sessions... :-)

P.S => Beg my apologies if you didn't find my article "a QUICK READ"... :-)

1 DESH...1 JUNOON...!!!

Few days after the IPL (Indian Premier League) cricket series had ended, I called up Vodafone call center folks to inquire about my bill (no way related to Cricket, since I'm not addicted to Cricket unlike my country men). I was astounded when I heard (STILL!) the IVR automatic voice saying: "Participate in Vodafone contest and win tickets to watch IPL in South Africa!!!"....This even after KNOWING that the series had well ended a couple of days before...(In hindsight, an "obvious" marketing trap)

I couldn't find a BETTER example illustrating the below punchline frequently flashed by the broadcaster of the IPL series on TV during the series:
"1 DESH...1 JUNOON !!!"

SO TRUE !

WINDOWS v/s LINUX !!!

While watching "LIVE MEDIA" channel in my office canteen I saw this quick fact:

"Around 10,000 birds die in a year from smashing into WINDOWS !!!"

- Now I know atleast 1 reason why people love LINUX more than WINDOWS...

I love this "How Peculiar" song by Robbie Williams...Every time I listen to it, I just say to myself: "How peculiar !!!"... :)

Of COUNTRY and PUDDING...!!!

Well thanks to my 3-months business trip to America - the fact that one has to pay "dollars" to eat Indian food made it('the' food) more "valuable" to me... :)

I wasn't surprised when I even started eating pudding ("KHEER") there...which I never used to like (appreciate?) back home....

This just made me come up with this (but my very own) one-liner:

"COUNTRY is like home made pudding...you REALIZE the value of it when you are 10,000 miles away..."

What's your IMPORTANCE - LOW or HIGH ???

While using Microsoft Office Outlook for managing official emails, I've observed a plethora of people (including myself) frequently using the "IMPORTANCE:HIGH" feature to "increase" the conspicuousness of their emails but HARDLY seen any one using "IMPORTANCE:LOW"....

While I can always increase my productivity by giving immediate attention to "IMPORTANCE:HIGH" emails, I can save my time as well by ignoring the "IMPORTANCE"LOW" emails when I can always find other HIGH priority job - bothways, effectively enhancing my productivity!

Don't you think it's high time that companies encouraged employees to start using "IMPORTANCE:LOW" feature....

Am I DEMEANING YOU here? By IGNORING your "IMPORTANCE:LOW" email?
Not really....I'll get back to you, as soon I finish through my other HIGH priority jobs...

So who's the bigger Egotist here - YOU or ME?

Cooking Tips - Off the Hook...Part-3...!!!

Although the above shown "Aloo Gobhi Matar" combo looks good, I found that it was not fully cooked when I served it with rice in the first serving / meal. What to do?


Well, to save my subsequent meals - I added more water, chilly powder and salt to the vegetable and heated the mixture for around 10 minutes on "medium" mode - continuously stirring the contents with spoon to avoid any kind of overcooking / burning! I just thought that the heat of water should be sufficient to cook the vegetable mixture to a decent level without overcooking / burning anything. Salt and Chilly was added to avoid diluting the taste of the vegetable because of "extra" water added.

The trick worked superbly! And it saved my DAY (read Aloo Gobhi Matar) !!!


Maybe that's why they say:
"Always use LOGIC,
EVEN if it’s broken it can’t get worse… !!!"

Few tips:

1) Buy "Flour Tortillas" - a good substitute for "Rotis" at US! Use Desi Ghee for taste - it also makes the somewhat hard Tortillas a bit soft, effectively.

2) I found "Nanak Paneer" quite tasty. You can easily get hold of it at Swadesh / Taj store.
